New Film Shatters 'Fake News' of Occultist Aleister Crowleys Scottish Boleskine House

boleskine house

It is alleged that whilst at an art exhibition in Inverness, Mary Lorraine met Molly Lorraine (unrelated), the latter who was fascinated by Boleskine’s mysterious lore and wanted to buy the property. When she met Mary who shared her surname, it was too strange to call it coincidence and she convinced her husband Dennis Henry Lorraine to purchase the property in 1963. The first private owner of Boleskine House was Archibald Campbell Fraser of Lovat (1736–1815) who oversaw its commission as a manor estate. At Ancient Origins, we believe that one of the most important fields of knowledge we can pursue as human beings is our beginnings. And while some people may seem content with the story as it stands, our view is that there exist countless mysteries, scientific anomalies and surprising artifacts that have yet to be discovered and explained. I know Mr. Cowie has done actual research on occultism, I think he even had a youtube series years ago.

The Scottish filmmaker told John O Groat Journal that he is “determined to separate the so-called Great Beast” from the legacy of Boleskine House. To realize this, he is bringing together a dynamic team of academics, writers, authors, and podcasters to explore the newly renovated house. The team will also search for a mysterious tunnel supposedly linking the house to the nearby war grave burial ground.

In 1905, he would lead a new expedition to Kanchenjunga, the third highest mountain in the world. The death of one of the team members, Alexis Pache, along with three porters in an avalanche would cause them to abandon this ascent. Neither of these peaks would be successfully conquered for another fifty years. The goal of Ancient Origins is to highlight recent archaeological discoveries, peer-reviewed academic research and evidence, as well as offering alternative viewpoints and explanations of science, archaeology, mythology, religion and history around the globe. Those who do not understand why I write cryptically here, do not understand the laws of the country from which I write and the history of state named after a monarch who was a devotee of the occult linked to a castle in Scotland.

Famous People

Led Zeppelin guitarist, producer and collector of Crowley memorabilia Jimmy Page was the next owner of Boleskine House in 1971. Despite this, Page spent little time at the house itself, instead asking trusted friends of his to occupy and watch over the house. Those who watched over the property for Page include Eric Hill, Barriston Colby and Malcolm Dent. The Lorraines were looking for property in the Scottish Highlands with the intent to use the land as a pig-rearing operation. However, in reality Lorraine, who was by now a career conman was establishing a small pig-feeding farm at Boleskine as a ruse for the ongoing Cadco scandal further south in Glenrothes.

The 18-month magical working was specifically designed to bring the operator into contact with his “Holy Guardian Angel” and other angels who all gave the magician different powers, including healing, prophecy and the ability to locate hidden treasures. However, these rewards come only after the operator summons and binds a dark host of malevolent spirits. A filmmaker from the north of Scotland has vowed to dissolve decades of “fake news” surrounding a famous Boleskine House Jacobite era hunting lodge, and center of Aleister Crowley’s “magical operation” for 14 years on the banks of Loch Ness, Scotland.

History of Boleskine House

Through O.T.O., Thelemite groups were established in Britain, Australia and North America. Crowley spent the First World War in the United States, where he took up painting and campaigned for the German war effort against Britain, later revealing that he had infiltrated the pro-German movement to assist the British intelligence services. In 1920, he established the Abbey of Thelema, a religious commune in Cefalù, Sicily where he lived with various followers. His libertine lifestyle led to denunciations in the British press, and the Italian government evicted him in 1923.

It was during his time at Boleskine that Crowley became famous for his magic and occult practices, both around Scotland and around the world. Sometime during this period Golden Dawn leader Samuel Macgregor Mathers invited Crowley to  Paris for advancement in the secret initiatory group, forcing Crowley to abandon the ritual. It is said he left without dispelling the “12 Kings and Dukes of Hell” he had summoned, and many locals blame the house’s unlucky history on evil spirits left behind. Crowley himself, never one to admit a mistake, even conceded that the rituals he had performed at Boleskine House had gotten out of hand. Crowley considered Maugham's book to be plagiarism and wrote an article under the name of Oliver Haddo (the name of a character taken from Maugham's book) for Vanity Fair as a reply. (For details, see Crowley's autobiography, Confessions, listed above.)In Neil Spring's novel The Burning House the house plays a major role.

We are sorry, but if your chosen day or time is not listed below or on our Evenbrite page, we are unable to accomodate your visit at this time. "He is just one part of the history and blends into the rest of the historical narrative of the house." Even after the musician sold the house in the early 1990s, interest in the Crowley connection has not faded.

He even gave his own “Winston Churchill” impression in his later years. The Boleskine House estate is under 24-hour CCTV, and we have a zero-tolerance policy for unpermitted entry. Plans are also underway with the Ancient Origins team about offering advanced notice of this film to Premium Members, so be sure to sign up now ahead of time.

Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times  while on the site. At the beginning of the First World War, Crowley would leave for America in 1914 in hopes to stay far away from what appeared to be a devastating European war ahead. He left Boleskine to the care of friends and acquaintances, and would ultimately deliver the ownership of the home to the fraternal organisation he headed at the time, the Ordo Templi Orientis. However, the economic stress of the war would necessitate the sale of the estate in 1918, much to Crowley’s eternal dismay. He would consider Boleskine House to be an important landmark for the rest of his life even after his ownership simply because it was the location where the “Sacred Magic of Abramelin” was attempted. People believe the deceit and turn away from shining a light on these practices.

Famously, Crowley was called to attend urgent Golden Dawn matters in Paris and left the ritual incomplete after six months. Having altered Boleskine House’s architecture to create conceptual portals, through which the spirits would flow, many folk believe that when he abandoned the site a curse was bestowed upon the house. Some go so far as to claim sightings of “the other” Loch Ness monster increased at this time.

Archibald C. Fraser served as a British consul in Tripoli and Algiers, and would serve as M.P. Archibald commissioned Boleskine House as a hunting lodge in the late eighteenth-century, although it was not finished until 1809. Having outlived all of his sons, the house would later pass to his grandson, Archibald T.F. Fraser and the estate remained in the ownership of the Fraser family until 1894. Being an efficacious author of esoteric literature and poetry, he is also known to history for his achievements in setting record mountain-climbing feats for his time and as a champion player of chess.

If you require any medical attention, please inform a site  manager or designated personnel immediately and in an emergency dial 999. Please be sure to be alert for any hazards you may expect to find on a busy construction site, including moving vehicles,  machinery noise, and falling objects from contractors working on the scaffold (hence why you should always remain 3 meters away). Please pay attention to warning signage and follow  any instructions from one of our site managers if requested by them. Later owners dismissed any notions of hauntings or witchcraft at the house, but tragedy continued to strike.
